Passengers in Baku Metro may face fines ranging from 20 to 200 manats for violating the rules of using the subway system in Azerbaijan.
According to Vesti Baku, the penalties are set out in the Code of Administrative Offenses and vary depending on the type of violation.
A fine of 200 manats may be imposed for littering in station vestibules, passages, platforms, escalators or train cars, writing on metro facilities, entering stations through restricted areas, or using the “passenger-driver” communication system without necessity.
The same 200-manat fine applies to throwing any object onto the railway tracks.
Passengers can be fined 20 manats for placing items on the handrail of an escalator.
A 50-manat fine is provided for removing an escalator handrail, using the “Stop” switch without necessity, smoking in station vestibules, passages, platforms or train cars, opening train doors while the train is moving, delaying a train’s departure, entering the tracks without permission, or accessing restricted areas such as the driver’s cabin, service and technical rooms, tunnels, ventilation shafts and fenced-off zones intended for metro staff.
The same 50-manat penalty applies to the use of open flames or pyrotechnic devices inside the metro.
Anyone who connects electrical devices to the metro’s power network without proper permission may be fined 70 manats.
In addition, burning any objects within 25 meters of metro ventilation shafts carries a fine of 100 manats.
