The issue of visa-free travel opportunities for Azerbaijani citizens has returned to public discussion.
Samad Seyidov, chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Relations, said at a recent parliamentary session that Azerbaijan has already signed various visa exemption agreements with nearly 100 countries.
According to Seyidov, Azerbaijani citizens currently can travel visa-free with an ordinary passport to 22 countries. The figure has drawn public interest, with many asking which countries are included in the list.
According to available information, Azerbaijani citizens can travel without a visa, or without needing an additional visa at the border, to the following 22 countries:
- Georgia
- Serbia
- Albania
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Moldova
- Ukraine
- Russia
- Belarus
- Turkey
- Kazakhstan
- Kyrgyzstan
- Uzbekistan
- Tajikistan
- Malaysia
- Indonesia
- Qatar
- Dominica
- Haiti
- Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
- Colombia
- Ecuador
- Barbados
Visa rules, however, can change quickly and travelers are advised to check entry requirements before making plans.
For example, Azerbaijanis were previously able to travel to Montenegro without a visa, but from 2026 the country introduced a visa requirement for Azerbaijani citizens and is no longer included in the visa-free list.
Some destinations also have special or changing rules. China, for instance, may apply short-term visa-free or conditional entry regimes in certain cases. For the United Arab Emirates, including Dubai, the system may combine visa-free travel and e-visa procedures depending on the situation.
For this reason, travelers should always verify the latest entry rules for their destination before departure./musavat
