Azerbaijan And Iran Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Situation

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss the current regional situation, security issues, the announced ceasefire and further diplomatic contacts.

According to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, Bayramov welcomed the ceasefire and said its preservation is important for reducing tensions, advancing negotiations and restoring stability.

The Azerbaijani side also stressed the importance of observing the ceasefire and resolving the situation through diplomatic means. Baku expressed hope that the talks due to be held in Islamabad would be substantive and result-oriented.

The statement also highlighted the role of mediating countries in helping secure the ceasefire, with particular appreciation expressed for Pakistan.

Bayramov said Azerbaijan remains ready to support initiatives aimed at strengthening lasting peace, security and cooperation in the region.

Earlier, Araghchi also confirmed the phone call on his Telegram channel, saying the two ministers discussed recent developments in the region as well as bilateral relations, with further details to be released later.
