Azerbaijan Average Salary Reaches 1,173 Manats as Inflation Hits 5.7%

Azerbaijan’s average monthly nominal salary reached 1,173 manats in January-August 2026, while consumer prices rose 5.7% in the first nine months of the year. The economy expanded 1.5%.

The figures were published Oct. 9 in a new package of economic indicators from Azerbaijan’s State Statistical Committee and Finance Ministry.

Wages, Prices and Retail Trade

The average nominal monthly salary of employees rose 7.2% from the same period a year earlier. The highest wages were recorded in mining, finance and insurance, information technology, scientific and technical activities, and transportation and storage.

Average inflation for January-September was 5.7%, unchanged from the rate reported for the first eight months. Retail trade turnover increased 3.8% in real terms to 50.77 billion manats.

GDP Exceeds 102 Billion Manats

Gross domestic product reached 102.05 billion manats, up 1.5% year over year. Overall industrial production fell 0.8% to 51.18 billion manats, but non-oil and gas industrial output grew 5.4% to 16.56 billion manats.

Agricultural production rose 1.1%, transportation and storage services grew 10%, and information and communications services expanded 11.1%. Investment in fixed capital increased 10.9% to 14.69 billion manats.

Budget Surplus and Reserves

State budget revenue totaled 29.31 billion manats in the first nine months, while spending amounted to 25.35 billion manats. That produced a surplus of 3.96 billion manats.

Strategic foreign-exchange reserves stood at $89.38 billion as of Sept. 30, up 9.7% from a year earlier, although they declined by $1.39 billion during September. External public debt fell 7.8% year over year to $4.51 billion and decreased by another $50 million in September.
