Azerbaijan to Train 1,100 Prisoners Annually in Technical Trades

Must read

BAKU - Azerbaijan plans to provide certified vocational training to 1,100 prisoners each year in technical trades that are in demand, Justice Minister Farid Ahmadov said.

Ahmadov announced the program in an interview with the Report news agency and ITV, describing it as part of efforts to improve rehabilitation and help former prisoners find work after their release.

Training Will Cover In-Demand Technical Skills

The initial fields will include electrical installation, electric and gas welding, and the repair of hybrid and electric vehicles, along with other technical specialties.

The program is intended to give prisoners practical skills backed by formal certificates. Those documents will verify their qualifications and may help them demonstrate their training to potential employers after leaving prison.

Public and Private Partners to Support Program

Private-sector partners and state-owned legal entities are expected to help create the necessary infrastructure in penitentiary facilities and organize the courses.

The Justice Ministry has not yet said which penitentiary institutions will launch the program first or how long each course will last.
