Azerbaijan’s President Congratulates Orthodox Christian Community on Easter

President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory message to Azerbaijan’s Orthodox Christian community ahead of Easter, emphasizing the country’s traditions of religious tolerance and multiculturalism.

According to Vesti Baku, Aliyev addressed the message to Azerbaijan’s Christian community, extending his wishes for happiness, peace, and well-being on the holy holiday.

In the message, the president said the atmosphere of tolerance that has existed in Azerbaijan for centuries has played an exceptional role in fostering harmonious relations among people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds. He described the country’s ethnic and cultural diversity, national and spiritual values, and multicultural traditions as a unique asset of modern Azerbaijani statehood.

Aliyev said Azerbaijan’s current legal and democratic framework provides broad opportunities for all citizens, regardless of language, religion, or ethnicity, including members of the Christian community, to preserve their traditions, language, and culture.

He also noted that Christian citizens are actively involved in the country’s social, political, and cultural life and are making a worthy contribution to Azerbaijan’s overall development.

Calling Easter a symbol of revival, renewal, mercy, and compassion, Aliyev said the holiday is celebrated every year in Azerbaijan with solemnity.

He concluded by once again congratulating the country’s Christian community and wishing their families prosperity and abundant blessings.
