A Russian missile strike on Kyiv damaged the apartment of an Azerbaijani family, according to a report from the Ukrainian capital.

Ismikhan Beydullayev was inside the family’s apartment in Kyiv’s Desnianskyi district when the attack occurred but was not injured, Vesti Baku reported, citing Report’s Eastern Europe bureau. The apartment was badly damaged after a ballistic missile struck near the residential building.

Kyiv police said five people were killed and 36 others, including a child, were injured in the attack. Three women were killed in a residential building in the Desnianskyi district, while two people were killed in the Holosiivskyi district.

Authorities had received about 80 reports of property damage, according to the Kyiv police statement. Fires and structural damage were reported at several locations, and parts of the city experienced power disruptions.

The strike was part of a wider Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital. Ukrainian officials said five ballistic missiles had been launched at Kyiv without an air-raid warning.
