Two taxi drivers in Baku have been sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest after allegedly harassing female passengers and preventing them from leaving their cars.
According to Lent.az, the incidents were recorded in Baku’s Sabail district, near the Sahil metro station and the Highland Park area.
Administrative reports say the drivers, identified under conditional names as 23-year-old Abbas Ashrafov and 35-year-old Murad Gadirov, tried to start conversations with women who had entered their vehicles as passengers. During the rides, the drivers allegedly behaved in a way that made the women feel threatened and did not allow them to get out of the cars.
In one case, a woman began screaming for help near the Sahil metro station. In another, a passenger called for assistance near Highland Park. Police officers on duty in the area intervened immediately and stopped the vehicles.
The report says both drivers initially ignored lawful police orders before being detained and taken to a police station.
Administrative protocols were drawn up against them under articles related to petty hooliganism and failure to comply with the lawful demand of a police officer or serviceman.
By court decision, both drivers were placed under administrative arrest for 15 days.
