Russian citizens temporarily living in Azerbaijan have been reminded to closely monitor the length of their stay in the country and secure the required permits if needed.

The warning was issued by Vusal Huseynov, head of Azerbaijan’s State Migration Service, who said Russian citizens are allowed to stay in the country for 90 days within one calendar year without obtaining the relevant residence authorization.

That means some Russian nationals who arrived in Azerbaijan in early January could begin reaching the end of their permitted stay as early as April.

The migration service said the issue is especially important for families traveling with minor children, warning that failure to comply with the rules could lead to complications when entering or leaving the country.

Officials advised Russian citizens to calculate their stay in Azerbaijan in advance when planning travel or to obtain the necessary residence permits before departing the country.

A special electronic calculator for counting the permitted stay period is available on the website of the State Migration Service. Additional information can also be obtained through the agency’s 919 hotline, its social media accounts, and local reception offices.
