Moped riders in Azerbaijan will be required to obtain a driver’s license, while owners will also have to register their vehicles, obtain license plates and undergo technical inspections.

The Milli Majlis has approved amendments to the Law on State Duty setting the fees for the new procedures.

The initial examination for a license to operate a moped will cost 40 manats. Applicants who need to retake the exam will pay an additional 20 manats.

A separate fee of 30 manats will be charged for issuing or replacing the driver’s license.

The technical inspection of a moped will cost 15 manats, while vehicle registration will cost 10 manats.

Owners will also pay 15 manats for a state registration plate and 30 manats for a registration certificate.

The total initial cost of the examination, license, technical inspection, registration, license plate and registration certificate will therefore amount to 140 manats.

The total does not include the additional 20-manat fee for retaking the driving examination.
