Passengers using the Baku Metro have reported intermittent problems when attempting to pay fares through NFC-enabled smartphones.

In some cases, turnstiles failed to process contactless payments even though plastic BakıKart cards and QR codes continued to work normally.

Passengers said the disruptions occurred at several stations, primarily during the morning rush hour. One commuter reported experiencing the problem while traveling between Icherisheher and 28 May stations.

Some passengers said they stopped using NFC payments after repeated failures and switched to plastic cards or QR codes instead.

BakıKart said its investigation found no systemwide technical malfunction. According to the operator, the contactless payment system is currently functioning normally, with public transportation payments being processed without interruption.

Passengers who encounter similar problems are advised to contact BakıKart customer service and provide the location, time and circumstances of the failed transaction.
