Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has congratulated U.S. President Donald Trump on the 250th anniversary of American independence.

In a letter marking the July 4 national holiday, Aliyev extended his congratulations to Trump and the American people, describing the United States as a country that has played a major role in shaping the modern international order.

Aliyev said relations between Azerbaijan and the United States have developed successfully in recent months and noted that Baku highly values the strategic partnership between the two countries.

He thanked Trump for his support for stronger bilateral ties and highlighted the Strategic Partnership Charter signed in February.

According to Aliyev, the charter is expected to expand cooperation in traditional areas such as the economy, energy, connectivity and security, as well as in digital transformation, artificial intelligence and other emerging fields.

The Azerbaijani president also praised Trump’s efforts to promote peace and sustainable development in the South Caucasus.

Aliyev referred to the trilateral meeting held at the White House on August 8, 2025, saying it had created a new and more positive environment in the region.

“Azerbaijan and Armenia are already living in peace and establishing trade relations,” Aliyev said in the letter.

He also welcomed continued U.S. support for regional infrastructure projects, particularly the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, which is intended to provide an alternative, reliable and secure connection between Asia and Europe.

Aliyev said Azerbaijan attaches special importance to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with the United States and expressed confidence that the two countries would continue to deepen their strategic partnership.

He wished Trump good health and success and extended wishes of peace, prosperity and well-being to the American people.
