Azerbaijan imported 841,677.9 metric tons of wheat in January-August, spending 314.8 million manats ($185.2 million), according to the State Customs Committee.
The volume rose by 81,700 tons, or 10.7%, from the same period last year, while spending increased by 36.7 million manats ($21.6 million), or 13.2%, according to Report and Vesti Baku.
Wheat Accounts for 1.6% of Imports
Wheat purchases represented 1.6% of Azerbaijan’s total import spending during the eight-month period.

The country’s total foreign-trade turnover reached 56.5 billion manats ($33.238 billion). Exports totaled 37.1 billion manats ($21.815 billion), while imports amounted to 19.4 billion manats ($11.423 billion).
Export value increased 27.8% year over year, while import value fell 24.1%.
