Drone Strikes School Building in Nakhchivan

BAKU, March 5 – Drones launched from the territory of Iran attacked Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, leaving two people injured.

The information was confirmed to Vesti Baku by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the ministry, the attack took place around midday on March 5. One of the drones fell near a secondary school building in the village of Shakarabad in the Babek district and exploded. The blast damaged the school building, shattering windows and damaging part of the facade.

Fortunately, no students or school staff were injured.

Another drone, as previously reported, struck the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport. Two civilians were wounded in that incident.

Azerbaijan has stated that it reserves the right to take appropriate response measures in connection with Iran’s drone attack on Nakhchivan.

According to Vesti Baku, this was stated in an official statement by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry noted that the attack on Azerbaijani territory violates the norms and principles of international law and contributes to rising tensions in the region.
