Restrictions in Russian airspace disrupted four Azerbaijan Airlines flights between Baku and Moscow on Oct. 9, forcing one aircraft to land in St. Petersburg, another to return to Baku and two evening services to be postponed.
The changes affected flights J2-185 and J2-186 on the Baku-Moscow Domodedovo-Baku route and J2-805 and J2-806 on the Baku-Moscow Vnukovo-Baku route, according to Vesti Baku.
Flights Diverted and Postponed
The morning J2-185 service from Baku to Moscow was forced to land in St. Petersburg. After restrictions were reintroduced, the aircraft could not operate its return flight to Baku.
The aircraft operating the morning J2-805 service to Moscow returned to Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The restrictions also prevented aircraft from reaching their destination airports on schedule and disrupted subsequent rotations, leading AZAL to postpone the evening J2-186 and J2-806 flights.
Passengers Await Updated Schedules
AZAL did not announce revised departure times in its initial statement. The carrier said it was monitoring the situation, assisting affected passengers and would communicate schedule changes through its official information channels.
The airline said passenger and flight safety remained its priority and that operational decisions would be based on current conditions and safety requirements. The details were also confirmed by APA, citing AZAL’s press service.
