Demand for chicken meat increased significantly in Azerbaijan in 2025, reflecting shifting consumer behavior amid changing economic conditions.
According to the State Statistics Committee, retail meat sales rose 44.7% year-on-year, exceeding 188 million manats. At the same time, buyers are increasingly choosing poultry over beef, driven largely by price differences.
Butchers report weakening purchasing power among customers. Where two head of cattle might previously have been sold, only one is now moving, while demand for chicken continues to grow as the more accessible option.
Prices vary depending on weight and product type, yet the consistent gap between poultry and beef remains the decisive factor shaping consumer choice.
Economists say the rising demand for chicken is not only a market trend but also a broader social and economic signal, pointing to income pressures and changing consumption patterns across the population.
