President Ilham Aliyev met with a delegation from U.S. agricultural machinery manufacturer John Deere on July 16 to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in Azerbaijan.
The delegation included Csaba Lejko, John Deere’s president for the CIS and Central Asia and CEO of John Deere Walldorf International, as well as Peter Sachsen, the company’s vice president for the CIS.
During the meeting, the sides recalled Aliyev’s talks with Lejko in Baku last year.
The John Deere representatives said they were impressed by Azerbaijan’s development and expressed interest in expanding the company’s operations in the country.
The talks focused on Azerbaijan’s agricultural potential, the introduction of modern technologies and state-backed efforts to develop the farming sector. The importance of the country’s new agricultural development program was also highlighted.
Aliyev and the company executives discussed future areas of cooperation, noting that there were opportunities to broaden ties across several segments of agriculture, including the use of modern machinery and advanced farming technologies.
Founded in the United States in 1837, John Deere is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of agricultural, construction and forestry equipment. The company operates factories and offices in more than 30 countries.
