Police in Sumgayit have conducted a nighttime operation targeting motorcyclists accused of speeding, excessive noise and other traffic violations.
Azerbaijan’s Interior Ministry said traffic police stopped motorcycles and other motorized two-wheelers while checking drivers’ documents and vehicle modifications.
Officers identified riders allegedly traveling at high speeds, driving without license plates or operating motorcycles without the required category of driver’s license.
Police also found motorcycles fitted with unauthorized equipment or modified exhaust systems that produced noise above permitted levels. The operation was partly aimed at preventing disturbances to residents, particularly during nighttime hours.
The ministry said legal measures were taken against nearly 30 riders. It did not specify how many were fined or whether any motorcycles were impounded.
