Azerbaijan placed 1,278 people in administrative detention for failing to meet child-support obligations during the first half of 2026, according to data released by the Ministry of Justice.

The ministry provided the figures in response to a request from Report.az.

Authorities filed administrative-offense reports against 2,740 child-support debtors between January and June. Nearly half of them were subsequently ordered into administrative detention.

The ministry also submitted requests to pursue criminal charges against 116 people. Criminal cases were opened against 77 debtors following a review of the materials.

Travel restrictions were imposed as another enforcement measure.

Officials requested temporary bans on leaving Azerbaijan for 1,500 people with unpaid child-support obligations. Courts approved the restrictions for 1,246 of them.
