A daily limit of five card-to-card transfers is drawing complaints from some Azerbaijan residents, particularly people who regularly receive payments or sell goods online.
Banking expert Ismail Mammadov said the limit is unlikely to create serious difficulties for most customers.
People who need to make more transfers should contact their bank and explain the nature of the transactions, he said. A bank may then consider allowing the customer to exceed the standard limit.
Mammadov linked the restriction to efforts to curb illegal money transfers. He said initial observations indicate that such transactions have declined, although more time will be needed to assess the measure’s overall effectiveness.
The rule may have a greater effect on people who use personal cards for frequent payments, including some online sellers and small-scale business operators.
