BAKU — President Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan initiated and shaped the peace agenda with Armenia, calling the peace achieved between the two countries unprecedented.
Aliyev made the remarks on Sept. 23 during a meeting with Sweden’s new ambassador to Azerbaijan, Louise Morsing, who presented her credentials, according to Vesti Baku.
Morsing congratulated Aliyev on progress in the peace process and welcomed steps aimed at strengthening trust between Baku and Yerevan.
Relations With the EU and Sweden
Aliyev described Azerbaijan’s current relations with the European Union as very good. He referred to visits to Baku by the leaders of key EU institutions and meetings with them at international events.
Morsing cited positive momentum in ties between Azerbaijan and the EU and said negotiations on a bilateral agreement had resumed. She also praised Azerbaijan’s humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
The two sides discussed prospects for Azerbaijani-Swedish relations. Aliyev highlighted opportunities for cooperation in investment, trade and business, while Morsing pledged to help expand bilateral ties.
