Aliyev Visits Restored Village In Shusha District

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited Boyuk Galadarasi village in Shusha district on May 28 to review restoration work on private homes and infrastructure and meet residents who have returned to the village.

Aydin Karimov, the special representative of the president in Shusha district, briefed Aliyev on the work carried out in the village.

Boyuk Galadarasi is part of the Galadarasi village administrative district of Shusha. The village was occupied by Armenian armed forces in 1992 and was returned to Azerbaijani control in 2023 during the anti-terror operation carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

Officials said several projects have been implemented to create basic living conditions and address social needs in the village. A transformer has been installed, new power lines have been laid, and existing electricity lines have been restored. Homes designated for settlement in the first phase have been fitted with meters.

A new gas line has also been laid in the village, and work has begun to install gas meters. Water supply work has been carried out as well, including the installation of distribution lines and water meters. Communication lines are still being laid.

Internal village roads have been improved. A park has been built for residents, and a Flag Square has also been created.

There are 50 private houses in Boyuk Galadarasi. Of those, 13 are unfit for use, while 37 are partially usable.

Seventeen houses have already been restored in the first phase. Another 20 homes are planned for restoration in the next phase.

So far, 64 people, representing 14 families, have returned to the village.

After inspecting the restoration work, Aliyev met with residents who had returned to Boyuk Galadarasi.
