The health condition of Azerbaijani TikTok blogger Ilduza Hajiyeva, widely known online as Arzum, has deteriorated, according to her lawyer.

Attorney Hikmat Aliyev said Hajiyeva now requires regular medical supervision. He also confirmed that the defense plans to appeal the verdict handed down by the court of first instance.

The Khazar District Court sentenced Hajiyeva to five years and two months in prison. Prosecutors had requested a sentence of five years and nine months.

The case stems from a traffic accident that occurred in June 2025 in the Mardakan settlement of Baku’s Khazar district. One person was killed and another was seriously injured.

Hajiyeva was charged under Articles 263.2 and 264 of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code, which cover violations of traffic safety rules resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident.

Questions have also emerged over the future of Hajiyeva’s children, who are reportedly in Germany.

According to media reports, Hajiyeva and her partner Denis were not officially married, while legal custody of the children was held by the mother. Under German law, the children could therefore be placed under the supervision of state child welfare authorities following her arrest.

The situation is further complicated by reports that one of Hajiyeva’s sons has autism and may require specialized care.

German authorities have not yet publicly announced any final decision regarding the children.
