Azerbaijan has extended the validity period of the medical certificate required to take a driving license exam from 30 to 60 days.

The previous 30-day limit created difficulties for applicants who failed the exam on their first attempt or needed more time to complete the next stage. In many cases, they had to undergo medical checks again, including X-rays and laboratory tests.

Azerbaijan’s Management Union of Medical Territorial Units, known as TƏBİB, said applicants must submit a certificate confirming that they are medically fit to drive.

Since the legislation does not directly specify how long the certificate should remain valid, the period had previously been set at 30 days for road safety reasons.

Following complaints from applicants and a review of the procedure, the validity period has now been doubled to 60 days.

The change means future drivers will no longer need to repeat the full medical examination after only one month.
