Kurdamir Wedding Food Poisoning Cases Rise to 92

The number of people who sought medical care after a wedding celebration in Kurdamir has risen from 50 to 92, while prosecutors investigate the suspected mass food poisoning.

The incident occurred Sept. 30 at a catering venue in the city of Kurdamir. The district prosecutor’s office has opened an inquiry, and food samples taken from the establishment have been sent for expert examination.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, 92 people who attended the event sought treatment with symptoms consistent with food poisoning. They received initial medical care and were later released for outpatient observation.

Food Samples Sent for Testing

Investigators collected samples of the dishes served at the event and ordered laboratory examinations. Other procedural steps are underway to determine the source and cause of the illnesses.

Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency is conducting a parallel inspection and said it would provide the public with the results after the required testing is completed.

The reported number of patients has increased several times as more guests sought care. Initial reports cited 30 people, followed by updates of 50 and 91. The latest official figure from prosecutors is 92.
