Italy, the Czech Republic and Romania received 10.46 million metric tons of oil from Azerbaijan worth $6.52 billion in January-August, accounting for 71.2% of the country’s total oil export volume.
The figures were published by Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee on Sept. 21.
Italy remained the largest market, taking 8.47 million tons valued at $5.23 billion. Shipment volume fell 7.9%, while revenue rose 8.8%. Italy accounted for 57.7% of Azerbaijan’s oil exports.
The Czech Republic bought 1.06 million tons worth $712.8 million. Volume declined 12.5%, but the value of shipments increased 9.1%. The country’s share was 7.2%.
Romania increased its purchases. Volume rose 18.8% to 924,900 tons, while the value climbed 35.5% to $581.7 million. Romania’s share reached 6.3%.
In total, Azerbaijan exported 14.68 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products worth $9.28 billion during the first eight months of the year. Differences between changes in shipment volumes and revenue across individual markets reflect movements in export prices.
