Financial inspections in Azerbaijan recovered 106.9 million manats, approximately $62.9 million, in public funds during the first nine months of 2026 and prevented another 100.9 million manats, or about $59.4 million, in unjustified or legally noncompliant spending.

The figures were reported by Azerbaijan’s Finance Ministry for January through September.

The State Financial Control Service completed inspections at 84 organizations. Of those, 52 were conducted under decisions received from law enforcement agencies and 32 were unscheduled inspections.

The ministry said the reviews restored 106.9 million manats to the public sector while stopping a further 100.9 million manats in improper expenditures before they were made.

Projects in Liberated Territories Reviewed

Financial experts also examined 91 government investment and infrastructure projects in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories. Reviews were completed for 59 projects and remained underway for 32.

The 59 completed projects had a combined value of 1.038 billion manats, approximately $610.6 million.

Inspectors compared prices for materials, equipment, labor and machinery with current standards and market conditions. They also checked whether cost estimates matched project drawings and the actual volume of work.

The Finance Ministry said the reviews were intended to promote more efficient use of budget funds and identify inflated costs at an early stage.
