Azerbaijan is considering joint projects with Brookfield Asset Management in renewable energy, energy-storage systems and digital infrastructure.
President Ilham Aliyev discussed the areas with Brookfield Chief Executive Connor Teskey on Sept. 25, according to Vesti Baku.
The meeting followed up on long-term strategic cooperation between the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan and Brookfield, formalized through a memorandum of intent after talks in Davos in January.
Potential projects would cover the energy transition, renewable sources, energy storage and digital infrastructure. The sides also discussed strengthening Azerbaijan’s position as a regional energy hub.
Brookfield manages more than $1 trillion in assets. Its infrastructure platform includes more than 308,000 telecommunications sites, 77,000 kilometers of fiber-optic networks, 150 data centers, 36,300 kilometers of railways and 3,200 kilometers of toll roads.
The group’s utility infrastructure businesses serve more than 10 million customers worldwide.
