Prices for spare parts used in Chinese-made vehicles have risen sharply in Azerbaijan, increasing repair and maintenance costs for drivers.
Sellers say most Chinese car parts have become 25% to 30% more expensive in recent weeks. A component that previously cost 100 manats now sells for about 130 manats ($76).
Electronic components have recorded some of the steepest increases, with prices rising by approximately 50%. Sellers also warn that many electronic parts are offered without warranties.
Certain products have more than doubled in price. One imported component that previously cost 25 to 30 manats is now selling for 55 to 60 manats ($32 to $35).
The increase has also reached the used-parts market, where prices for some components have climbed by 15% to 20%.
Market participants attribute the surge to supply shortages, declining inventories and higher transportation costs linked to restrictions affecting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Importers are reportedly using longer and more expensive alternative routes to bring products into Azerbaijan.
Price differences between standard and original replacement parts also remain significant. A regular air filter may cost around 5 manats, while an original version can sell for 15 manats.
Industry specialists say prices could stabilize if shipping conditions and logistics costs return to normal. Until then, owners of Chinese vehicles may face further increases in maintenance expenses.
