More than 700,000 olive trees have been planted across a 1,150-hectare orchard at the Aghdam Olive Enterprise, which is designed to produce up to 10,000 metric tons of olives, or 2,000 metric tons of olive oil, annually.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev inspected the enterprise on Nov. 7. Ruslan Sadikhov, director of Agroinkishaf 2017 LLC, briefed him on the project.

Work on the site began in December 2020 after the area was cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance. Grain was initially grown there, with yields reaching 40 centners per hectare.

The company plans to increase the combined number of olive and almond trees to 1.5 million. Temporary irrigation canals have been built, and 3.69 kilometers of the Eyvazkhanbayli-Khachinchay road has been repaired. The project also includes administrative and technical areas, a weather station and a fuel station.

A forest plantation has already been established on 10 hectares, with another 50 hectares planned.
