Azerbaijani TikTok personality Ilduza Hajiyeva, known online as Arzum9999, has spoken publicly for the first time after being sentenced to 5 years and 2 months in prison over a fatal traffic accident.
Her lawyer, Farid Hasanov, visited her at the Baku Detention Center and said Hajiyeva was in good health and had no complaints about the conditions or the way she was being treated.
According to the lawyer, she is being held in a cell with several other women.
Hajiyeva told her attorney that she considers the ruling by the Khazar District Court unlawful, unfounded and unfair.
“I did not expect such a decision. I am still in shock,” she said.
Hasanov said Hajiyeva’s four children are currently being cared for by their grandparents. Her husband, a German citizen, is expected to arrive in Azerbaijan in the coming days.
The case stems from a crash that occurred at around 12:53 a.m. on June 27, 2025, on the Mardakan-Gala highway in Baku’s Khazar district.
According to the prosecution, Hajiyeva was driving a Changan Qiyuan A05 plug-in hybrid when her vehicle struck the rear wheel of a Mercedes-Benz D2, causing a collision.
The Mercedes driver, Amal Malikov, was killed, while passenger Sanubar Muradova suffered serious injuries.
The Khazar District Court found Hajiyeva guilty and sentenced her to 5 years and 2 months in prison. She was taken into custody in the courtroom.
Her lawyers are preparing to appeal the verdict.
