Construction of the TRIPP transport route could accelerate after Armenia’s parliamentary elections, with the main work potentially completed by 2028, Azerbaijani transport and logistics expert Rauf Agamirzayev said.

He made the comments in an interview with the YouTube channel “Modern Conversation with Rasim Babayev.”

TRIPP is expected to provide a transport link between mainland Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan through Armenian territory.

Agamirzayev said work on the route would likely proceed alongside the reconstruction and modernization of railway sections in Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey.

He also said the Gyumri-Kars railway could be restored as part of the broader regional transport network.

In Azerbaijan, construction and modernization are continuing along the route from Alat toward Horadiz. Agamirzayev said sections currently under development could be completed in stages, with the remaining work targeted for 2028.

Work is also underway in Nakhchivan, including the railway from Ordubad toward the Armenian border. Modernization of the Nakhchivan section is also planned for completion by 2028, he said.

Agamirzayev noted that TRIPP is not limited to rail and road links. The corridor could eventually include fiber-optic cables, pipelines and energy infrastructure.

He said the project would strengthen Azerbaijan’s role in regional trade and connect Nakhchivan more closely to international transport routes.
