Azerbaijan, U.S. and Armenia Launch TRIPP Transport and Power Groups

Must read

Azerbaijan, the United States and Armenia have launched two trilateral technical planning groups focused on transportation and electricity transmission, moving the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, or TRIPP, into a more detailed infrastructure-planning phase.

The groups were announced in a joint statement by the three governments on Nov. 6. The launch involved U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Brendan Hanrahan, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov and Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan.

Two Technical Tracks

One group will focus on transportation, while the other will address electricity transmission. Officials and technical specialists from the three countries are expected to work through complex engineering and implementation issues, prepare the project’s next stages and examine connections with other regional infrastructure.

The three sides reaffirmed their intention to move quickly toward making all components of TRIPP operational. The statement did not provide a construction start date, project cost or financing plan.

From Political Agreement to Implementation

TRIPP is designed as a multimodal transit route through Armenian territory linking mainland Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. It is also intended to become part of a broader Trans-Caspian trade network.

The technical groups mark a new stage after the political commitments set out in the Aug. 8, 2025 Washington summit declaration. The official Armenia-U.S. implementation framework describes the route as unimpeded multimodal transit across Armenia while preserving Armenian sovereignty, territorial integrity and jurisdiction.
