An attempted protest incident targeting the Azerbaijani delegation was contained in Washington on February 19 during events related to the first meeting of the Peace Council.

According to reports, a group of individuals engaged in confrontational behavior, including verbal remarks directed at members of the delegation, and attempted to approach a secured perimeter near the venue.

Security personnel assigned to the Azerbaijani president, working in coordination with Washington law enforcement authorities, intervened promptly and brought the situation under control. Preliminary information indicates that no serious disruptions or injuries were reported.

Video footage circulating on social media shows participants in the incident shouting slogans and attempting to move toward restricted areas. U.S. authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the matter as of publication.

President Ilham Aliyev was in Washington at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump to attend the inaugural session of the Peace Council.
