A group of residents in Baku say they paid thousands of manats to Aid-Group for education and relocation services abroad but received neither the promised assistance nor refunds.

The complaints center on Aid-Group and its head, Nigar Farhad, according to a report by Xəzər Xəbər.

One client, Aliya Fandiyeva, said she contacted the company after seeing its advertisements on social media. She signed an agreement on March 26 for assistance with sending her three children to study in Canada and paid 17,000 manats, or about $10,000.

According to Fandiyeva, the payment covered a full package that included visa processing and education-related services. She said the company’s representatives later stopped responding to calls, leaving her with contracts but no progress on the applications.

Another complainant, Ramin Badi Mirzazade, said he paid 4,350 manats, roughly $2,560, for help arranging studies in the United States.

He said the company promised that the process would be completed in time for the September academic term and insisted that the full amount be paid in cash in advance.

Six to seven months later, Mirzazade said, the education process had not started and he had been unable to recover the money.

The complainants claim that many other clients may have been affected and that the total amount involved could be substantial. They have appealed to law enforcement authorities and are seeking both refunds and a legal assessment of the company’s actions.

Journalists who visited the Aid-Group office found the door closed. Calls to the telephone numbers listed on the company’s social media pages went unanswered.

Neither Nigar Farhad nor other representatives of Aid-Group had publicly responded to the allegations at the time of the report.

The matter is currently being reviewed by law enforcement authorities. No official finding of wrongdoing has been announced.
