Azerbaijan Says Gas Exports to Turkey Have Reached 131 Billion Cubic Meters

BAKU - Azerbaijan has supplied Turkey with 131 billion cubic meters of natural gas since exports began, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the eighth Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit in Moscow.

European countries have received more than 66 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas, while Georgia has taken more than 37 billion cubic meters and Syria 1.7 billion cubic meters, according to figures released by Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry and reported by Vesti Baku.

Azerbaijani gas is now delivered to 16 countries. The ministry said the country ranks among the leading pipeline exporters by the geographic reach of its supplies.

Exports Expand Into Central Europe and the Middle East

Azerbaijan has exported gas for about two decades. Over the past six years, its European customer base has expanded into Central Europe, while a separate supply route has opened in the Middle East.

Shahbazov described the Southern Gas Corridor as central to that strategy, saying the infrastructure enables Azerbaijan to open new routes, diversify markets and build long-term supply relationships.

The minister also said Baku plans to develop natural-gas production and renewable energy at the same time. A larger share of green generation, he said, would strengthen domestic energy supplies and free additional gas for export.

The latest figures are cumulative volumes delivered to major destinations, not a forecast for exports in 2026.
