Baku-Tbilisi Train Service to Expand to Four Daily Trips Nov. 1

BAKU - Passenger rail service on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route will expand to four daily departures from Nov. 1, increasing available seats from 386 to 564, Azerbaijan Railways said.

The railway operator, known as ADY, is adding daytime and overnight services in response to growing demand, according to the Operative Information Center.

Tickets will go on sale Oct. 2. Fares in the new standard class will start at 54 manats from Baku to Tbilisi, 44 manats from Yevlakh, 41 manats from Ganja, 38 manats from Agstafa and 36 manats from Boyuk Kesik.

ADY said the new budget option would be about 30% cheaper than the current minimum fare in Stadler “comfort” cars.

Day and Overnight Departures

The existing train will leave Baku at 11 p.m. and arrive in Tbilisi at 8:41 a.m. An additional service will depart Baku at 9:10 a.m. and reach the Georgian capital at 7:11 p.m.

In the other direction, trains will leave Tbilisi at 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., arriving in Baku at 8:26 p.m. and 7:57 a.m., respectively.

Registered users buying tickets will be required to verify their accounts through MyGov ID. Foreign passengers will be able to verify their identities using a telephone number and a one-time SMS code.
