More than $200 billion has been invested in Baku over the past 20 years, according to the head of the city’s Executive Authority, Eldar Azizov.
As AZE.US reports, citing Trend, Azizov made the statement during the Fourth Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum in Tashkent.
“More than $200 billion has been invested in the city over the past 20 years. This process is continuing and expanding,” he said.
Azizov noted that Baku, together with its wider metropolitan area, is home to more than 3 million people. He said the Azerbaijani capital continues to develop rapidly and is preparing for new standards of urban growth.
Major architectural and infrastructure projects completed in the city include the Heydar Aliyev Center, Baku Olympic Stadium and the Flame Towers.
Azizov described Baku as both a developing metropolis and a platform for investment in urban infrastructure.
“Most importantly, the city is safe. This is ensured not only by public order, cleanliness and the effective work of law enforcement agencies. Baku is also a safe city for investment in urban infrastructure,” he said.
The Baku mayor invited Uzbek businesses to participate in joint projects in the Azerbaijani capital.
“We invite you to cooperate in our city and at our urban development sites,” Azizov added.
