BAKU, Azerbaijan - Azerbaijan’s state medical institutions provided 66 million services under the country’s compulsory health insurance system in the first eight months of 2026, a 9% increase from the same period a year earlier.
More than 4.4 million people received care from January through August and made 17.7 million visits, according to figures cited by Vesti Baku from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
Children Account for Nearly One-Third of Patients
About 1.4 million of those who received medical care were children. Outpatient care accounted for 88% of the services provided, while inpatient care made up the remaining 12%.
Compared with January-August 2025, the number of patients increased by 3.1%, the number of visits rose by 7.9%, and the number of medical services grew by 9%.
The figures amount to an average of about four medical visits per patient and approximately 3.7 services during each visit.
