President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation from Jordan’s House of Representatives on June 21, led by Speaker Mazen Torki Saud Al-Qadi.
According to Report, President Aliyev said relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan are built on friendship and brotherhood, noting that the two countries have always shown mutual support. He expressed confidence that cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian, interparliamentary and other areas would continue to expand.
Aliyev also pointed to the importance of Al-Qadi’s participation in the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, which is being held in Baku. The president said the visit would contribute to the development of bilateral relations and create a good opportunity to discuss cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Mazen Torki Saud Al-Qadi conveyed greetings from King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan to the Azerbaijani president.
Aliyev thanked him for the message and asked Al-Qadi to convey his greetings to the Jordanian monarch. The Azerbaijani president also invited King Abdullah II to visit Azerbaijan.
Al-Qadi thanked Aliyev for the reception and hospitality, describing it as a sign of the friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan. He said bilateral ties are developing successfully thanks to the political will of the leaders of the two countries.
The Jordanian speaker said Azerbaijan has become a beautiful and safe country as a result of President Aliyev’s “far-sighted and wise policy.” He also noted that the close unity between the people and the government in Azerbaijan reflects the public trust created by the policies pursued by the country’s leadership.
Al-Qadi said Azerbaijan has always paid close attention to cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and to issues of concern to the Arab and Islamic world. He said Azerbaijan’s clear and fair position on the Palestinian issue is highly appreciated.
He also congratulated Azerbaijan once again on restoring its territorial integrity and sovereignty, noting the large-scale reconstruction and development work being carried out in Karabakh and East Zangezur under Aliyev’s leadership.
For his part, Aliyev said Jordan is also successfully developing under the leadership of King Abdullah II.
The Azerbaijani president emphasized that Baku has consistently supported Islamic solidarity. Speaking about the Palestinian issue, Aliyev said Azerbaijan has always supported a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on the prospects for bilateral relations, future contacts and other issues of mutual interest.
