Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has expressed serious concern over a decision by the Israeli government related to the so-called “Armenian genocide.”
According to Report, the ministry said the distortion of historical facts related to the events of 1915 and the transformation of complex historical processes into political decisions without legal and scholarly grounds are unacceptable.
“Such steps do not serve reconciliation and mutual understanding, but instead deepen existing contradictions and obstruct efforts to promote lasting peace and accord in the region,” the Foreign Ministry said.
Baku called on the Israeli government to reconsider the decision.
The ministry added that Azerbaijan will continue its consistent position in defense of historical truth, respect for the principles of international law and the promotion of lasting peace in the region.
