Baku’s beaches remain largely empty just days before the official start of the summer season, with cool and rainy weather keeping many local residents away from the Caspian coast.

The few visitors seen along the shoreline have mostly been foreign tourists. Travelers from Uzbekistan said the cloudy weather did not disrupt their plans and described the sea water as relatively warm.

Beach operators said they were ready for the season despite weak demand. Umbrellas, lounge chairs, parking areas and other services have already been prepared for visitors.

Safety measures are also in place. Warning signs and buoys have been installed in line with Emergency Situations Ministry requirements, while lifeguards, boats and water scooters have been assigned for duty.

Business owners linked the slow start mainly to the unusually wet conditions recorded in May and early June.

The main beach tourism period in Azerbaijan usually falls in July and August, and operators expect visitor numbers to rise once temperatures increase.

The National Hydrometeorological Service said Baku and the Absheron Peninsula are expected to see partly cloudy and mostly dry weather over the next three days.

Nighttime temperatures are forecast at 17 to 19 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs reaching 27 to 32 degrees Celsius.
