BAKU, Azerbaijan - One cruise liner is ready for a planned luxury service between Moscow and Baku, while two more vessels could join the route if the project succeeds, Russia’s trade representative in Azerbaijan said.
Adam Hakimov told Russia’s Zvezda television channel that the journey would take about 14 days for a round trip, with roughly seven days required in each direction, Vesti Baku reported.
Launch Expected “In the Near Future”
Hakimov said organizers initially plan to deploy the completed liner. Two additional ships are expected to become available and could also operate to Baku if the first service proves successful.
The cruise-ship construction program receives Russian government support, including subsidies from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, according to the trade representative.
Hakimov said the route was expected to begin operating “in the near future,” but he did not announce the date of the inaugural voyage. Ticket prices and planned port calls between the two capitals also have not been disclosed.
Caspian Passenger Route
Moscow and Baku have discussed developing passenger cruise links across the Caspian Sea since 2025. The latest announcement is the first to state that a vessel is ready and to provide an estimated journey time.
