Azerbaijan Sets New Wind Limits for Crane Operations

Must read

Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis has adopted Labor Code amendments in a third and final reading that require all work involving ground-based cranes to stop when wind force exceeds eight points.

The amendments also provide for breaks for employees working in open areas and for work to be suspended when necessary, according to Vesti Baku.

Rules for Wind Force of Six to Eight

When wind force is between six and eight points, ground-based cranes may be operated only in circumstances permitted by the technical specifications of the particular equipment.

If wind force exceeds eight points, crane operations must stop regardless of the equipment’s technical characteristics.

Current rules require all work with ground-based cranes to stop when wind reaches six points or more. The adopted amendments create a separate regime for the six-to-eight range while retaining an unconditional suspension requirement in stronger winds.

The amendments have completed their final parliamentary reading. They will apply after the remaining procedure required by law is completed.
