Media reports have published an extensive list of land, property, companies and financial assets linked to former Azerbaijani presidential administration chief Ramiz Mehdiyev and members of his family.
The list includes hundreds of hectares of land, a villa reportedly offered for $8 million, a radio station, a medical center and a major stake in Bank BTB.
A court sentenced Mehdiyev to 14 years in prison but suspended the sentence because of his age and health. The verdict also ordered special confiscation of his property for the benefit of the state, Oxu.Az reported.
However, the specific property covered by the confiscation order has not been made public. The following assets have previously been linked to Mehdiyev and his family in media reports compiled by Oxu.Az and Axar.Az.
Land and Vineyards
Reports attribute 216 hectares of agricultural land in Baku, the Absheron district and the Goranboy district to the Mehdiyev family. They also cite vineyards and 155 hectares in Novkhani, as well as a 50-hectare plot in Goranboy’s Khinali village.
Other reported holdings registered to relatives include:
- 892 sot, or 8.92 hectares, in Mashtaga in the name of Mehdiyev’s wife, Galina Mehdiyeva;
- 240 sot, or 2.4 hectares in the name of his daughter, Kamila Aliyeva.
$8 Million Villa
Mehdiyev has been linked to a villa on Tbilisi Avenue in Baku occupying a 36-sot, or 0.36-hectare, plot. Media reports said it had previously been offered for sale for $8 million.
Country houses in the Goychay, Shamakhi and Goygol districts also appear in the published list.
Apartments and Commercial Property
The list includes an apartment belonging to Kamila Aliyeva at 11 Istiglaliyyat Street. That address is also listed as the legal address of Infonet LLC and Caspian Telecom LLC.
Companies and properties at 251A Dilara Aliyeva Street reportedly include the Topaz and Qala-R.L. housing cooperatives, NLT LLC and Premium Store LLC.
Construction Companies and Shopping Centers
Other entities named in the reports include Servis, Grand Palace, Astoriya and the Qrandezza shopping center.
Qrandezza reportedly opened in 2014 and occupies more than 5,000 square meters. Media reports have also alleged family stakes in the Sadarak and Bina shopping centers.
German Hospital and Media FM
The list includes Astoriya Tibb Merkezi, which has operated as German Hospital since 2020.
The family has also been linked to Digital Media, registered in Baku in 2008 and owner of the Media FM radio station. Nigar Mehdiyeva has been named in reports as holding an interest in the company.
Bank BTB and Financial Companies
A Mehdiyev family member reportedly owns 75% of Bank BTB. The bank’s charter capital is 50 million manats, or about $29.4 million.
BTB Leasing and BTB Kapital Investment Company are also named in the published list.
Publishing and Residential Buildings
The reports cite Sharq-Qarb Publishing House and Qlobal East West.
They also describe a 16-story residential building containing 408 apartments on the publisher’s property in Baku’s Ahmadli settlement, as well as another nearby 16-story building.
Media reports say these properties may represent only part of the assets linked to Mehdiyev and his family, and have also alleged holdings abroad.
Vesti Baku believes any search for unlawfully obtained property should not stop at Azerbaijan’s borders. If criminal origin is established through due process, authorities should seek confiscation and the return of funds to the country.
