Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has opened its 100th filling station in Romania, marking 15 years of expansion in the European Union country.
The new station began operating in Galați, an eastern Romanian city on the Danube River. The opening was carried out by SOCAR Petroleum SA, the Azerbaijani company’s Romanian subsidiary.
SOCAR Vice President Anar Mammadov said Romania was among the first EU countries where the company invested under its own brand. SOCAR opened its first Romanian filling station 15 years ago.
Revenue Rose Nearly 10%
SOCAR Petroleum SA recorded revenue of 3.9 billion Romanian lei in 2025, about €750 million, according to the company. That was 9.7% more than a year earlier.
SOCAR’s cumulative investment in the Romanian economy has reached 400 million lei, or about €78.4 million. The company also operates three fuel-storage facilities in the country.
SOCAR Petroleum SA Chief Executive Ramin Aliyev said the company intended to strengthen its position and increase its share of the Romanian market. Investment in logistics infrastructure is intended to support uninterrupted fuel supplies to the retail network.
