Police have begun taking action against drivers who illegally parked their vehicles in a bicycle lane on the Zighulba-Bilgah road in Baku.

As AZE.US reports, citing Xezer TV, the designated bike lane had effectively been turned into a parking area, forcing cyclists to enter the main roadway and travel alongside moving vehicles.

Footage recorded during the daytime showed numerous cars parked in the lane intended exclusively for cyclists.

The obstruction has raised safety concerns, as cyclists are being pushed into regular traffic and face a greater risk of being struck by vehicles.

Baku’s State Traffic Police Department said officers had begun taking measures after videos showing illegal parking in the bicycle lane were circulated online.

Police reminded drivers that bicycle lanes are designed solely for the safe movement of cyclists. Stopping or parking vehicles in these lanes is prohibited.

Authorities said enforcement and monitoring would continue.
