Moscow has warned that any infringement of the interests of Russian companies in Armenia “will not go unanswered.”

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin made the statement.

Galuzin said Yerevan’s assurances about the safety of investments did not fully reflect the situation. He cited experts who view recent developments as showing signs of a politically motivated redistribution of property.

The diplomat did not identify the companies or decisions involved and did not specify what countermeasures Moscow might take.

Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu previously accused the Armenian authorities of seizing enterprises in which, he said, Russia had invested billions. Yerevan has maintained that investments in Armenia are not under threat.
