The United States plans to support reforms of Armenia’s armed forces through advisory programs, exchanges of expertise and other assistance tools, according to Armenia’s Defense Ministry.
The plans were discussed during bilateral defense consultations held in Yerevan on Sept. 17. Pentagon official Andrew Loomis represented the U.S. side.
Washington confirmed its readiness to continue assisting the defense reforms being carried out by Yerevan and to direct the capacity of existing programs toward the transformation of Armenia’s military structure, the ministry said.
Focus on Advice and Knowledge Sharing
Representatives of the two countries reviewed the current state of military cooperation and identified areas for further engagement.
The announced support centers on consultations, knowledge sharing and assistance programs intended to introduce modern approaches into Armenia’s armed forces.
