Azerbaijan produced an average of 448,000 barrels of crude oil per day in August, leaving output 103,000 barrels below its OPEC+ quota, according to the organization’s latest monthly report.
Production declined by 7,000 barrels per day from July, when the country pumped an average of 455,000 barrels daily.
Azerbaijan’s average output stood at 454,000 barrels per day in the first quarter of 2026 and 456,000 barrels in the second quarter. The August figure was therefore below the averages recorded in both quarters.
In 2025, the country produced an average of 461,000 barrels per day, down 20,000 barrels from the previous year.
Under the OPEC+ agreement, Azerbaijan’s production quota is set at 551,000 barrels per day through the end of 2026. Actual August output was nearly 19% below that level.
The figures underscore the long-term production challenge facing Azerbaijan’s energy sector. Higher global oil prices may support export revenue, but they cannot fully offset the continued decline in physical output.
